The latest Compass National Market Report shows a housing market that remains steady, but more balanced than it was a year ago. Home prices and sales activity were essentially flat year over year, while inventory continued to rise and buyers showed a bit more caution in their offers and contingencies.
• Median home sale price was up just 0.2% year over year
• Number of home sales remained virtually unchanged
• Listing supply increased 2.4% from January and 4.9% year over year
• Median time on market rose to 47 days
• Only 14% of homes sold over asking, down from 21% last year
• 31% of sales were all cash
As we head deeper into spring, the market is gaining momentum, but economic uncertainty continues to be a factor to watch. Read the full report here: 2026 March National Market Report
